Ballindalloch Castle
is 1.5 miles from the
lodge. You can pay to visit the grounds of the castle which
gives you access to a great play area. There are lots of
tractors, swings etc. for the kids to play on. There are also
lots of nice walks in the grounds. The tearoom in the café sells
nice food and we found that the kids were welcome here.
Aberlour is 8 miles from the lodge. This is
a lovely little village with a great play park down by the
river. There
is also pitch and putt and nice river walks. The Spey Larder
sells the best ice cream we have tasted for a long time and goes
down well with the kids! The
Mash Tun
serves good food and
kids are welcome, it is worth booking for evening meals.
Grantown on Spey is 12
miles from the lodge. There is a great play park here for the
kids. There is also a ceramic painting shop, Smarty Art, for
rainy days, which is open Wednesday to Sunday. There is also a
Leisure Centre with swimming pool.
Aviemore is 25 miles from
the lodge. There is a soft play centre at the Coylumbridge Hotel
which is great for rainy days; there is also a swimming pool and
small dry ski slope where sledges can be hired. The
Macdonald Aviemore
Highland Resort has a good swimming pool with flumes.
